Program Overview

YWCA Harbour House is a 24-Hour Women’s Emergency Shelter and crisis line that assists women (and their children) fleeing abuse as well as those in crisis, space permitting.

Harbour House families are provided accommodations for a maximum of 21 days, with staff available for support 24 hours a day.

Education Sessions

In addition to providing families with crisis support, our staff facilitate a number of workshops and group sessions that provide families with the tools they need to heal and create healthy lives.

Path to Healing

Clients learn about the various types of abuse, dynamics of abuse and how children are effected by violence. This group also offers education on healthy relationships.

New Beginnings

Topics vary based on the needs of residents, and they include:

  • Coping and Self-Esteem
  • Stress Management
  • Grounding and Mindfulness
  • Grief and Loss
  • Boundaries and assertiveness

Harbour House School

In partnership with Lethbridge School District #51, Harbour House School meets the educational needs of children in grades 1 through 12 who reside in the shelter. The school has also been instrumental in developing curriculum for grades 2, 5 and 8 on issues of family violence.
