Program Overview

The Power of Being a Girl is an annual conference put on in partnership with Lethbridge School District #51. It hosts over 150 youth from Lethbridge and Southern Alberta each year.

The Power of Being a Girl conference explores the inner and outer strength of our youth and increases the awareness of issues facing them as they grow up. It encourages attendees to find their power, to speak up, and to make positive changes in their lives in the face of violence and adversity.

While the conference theme changes from year to year, some of the sessions may include information about:
positive relationships

  • bullying/harm reduction
  • healthy communication and problem solving
  • internet safety/cyber-violence
  • finding your voice
  • career choices
  • self esteem
  • discrimination and stereotypes
  • preventing violence
  • body image
