Outreach services helps people who have experienced family or sexual violence navigate through challenges and accomplish goals that will transition them into living a healthy safe life. Best of all, YWCA Outreach Services are mobile, so we can assist people with services and advocacy throughout the community.
Our Outreach team helps clients work through an immediate crisis and navigate the legal systems. They provide support for police intervention, medical appointments, and social services issues.
Outreach Services can assist with
- No contact orders
- Emergency protection orders
- Victim impact statements
- Service and goal plans
- Interim custody orders
Outreach works with clients to help them obtain stable housing and supports them in all aspects of their lives. This may include, but is not limited to, finding funding, working with outside resources like AISH, Alberta Works, Housing Associations within the community and referrals to community resources.
Other Related Services
Victim Awareness Sessions
Victim Awareness Sessions provide people who have experienced domestic violence with information to better understand domestic violence and the protocols and role of the Court in dealing with it. With education and accurate information, we help our clients make informed decisions and navigate the changes necessary to deal with the issues surrounding family violence.
The goal of these sessions is to assist victims in taking control in their lives through better understanding the cycle of violence and destructive patterns in their relationships and to educate them about the options and resources available to help them make changes and work towards healthier relationships.
Landlord and Tenant Information Sessions
Outreach Services provides informational sessions for both community agencies and individuals to address tenancy rights for both the tenant and the landlord.
These sessions provide information that addresses tenancy issues and ensures that both tenants and landlords are aware of their rights and obligations pursuant to the Residential Tenancies Act and the Mobile Homes Sites Tenancies Act.
Groups and Individual Informational Sessions
Outreach Services takes a holistic approach to addressing the many impacts of domestic violence. We offer a variety of programs that address our clients’ needs – mind, body and spirit.
