PROVIDE CHRISTMAS FOR A WOMAN IN CRISIS: YWCA STOCKINGS OF HOPE CAMPAIGN RUNS FROM NOVEMBER 21, 2018 – DECEMBER 17, 2018
Lethbridge, AB – Each year, the YWCA Lethbridge “Stockings of Hope” campaign helps women in crisis experience the joy of the Christmas season by providing them with gifts and much-needed personal items. Last year, generous YWCA donors provided Christmas for over 180 women & their families. Unfortunately, the need is growing, and we expect to receive over 200 requests this year.
Stockings of Hope will be available for adoption in the YWCA Lethbridge lobby starting on November 21, 2018. Unwrapped gifts are to be returned by December 17, 2018 to allow time for staff to sort, wrap and distribute the gifts before Christmas.
Each stocking includes a personal wish-list from a woman (and her children, if she has them). These women are either currently using YWCA programs and services or have used them over the past year. We prioritize Stockings of Hope recipients based on need. There are also a number of stockings that are our wish list. These are critical-need items required by our clients throughout the year, which we hold and distribute as needed – things like personal hygiene items or towels, pillows and blankets for women entering Harbour House, our women’s emergency shelter.
