YWCA WEEK WITHOUT VIOLENCE IS OCTOBER 15-21, 2018

 

Lethbridge, AB – YWCA’s Week Without Violence™ is a week-long series of community events promoting diverse approaches to creating a violence-free world. YWCA Lethbridge & District is hosting the following events as part of Week Without Violence:

 

TUESDAY, October 16, 2018

YWise Guys Boys Conference
For the second year, boys in grades 9-12 will meet to challenge harmful ideas of manhood that can lead to abuse; students register through their schools.

 

WEDNESDAY, October 17, 2018

Power of Being a Girl Conference™
Our annual violence-prevention conference for girls in grades 9-12 focusing on self-esteem, health relationships, internet safety and more; students register through their schools.

 

THURSDAY, October 18, 2018

Books Build Better Brains
Free books for all pre-schoolers, as well as fun activities and snacks; YWCA from 9:30am to noon

 

FRIDAY, October 19, 2018

Take Back the Night
Make a statement with your own sign or grab one of ours! We’ll meet on the steps of City Hall 6:30 and march at 7PM. We’ll work our way through the streets to confront violence against women, ending at YWCA Lethbridge for free cookies and hot cocoa. This event is appropriate for all ages; EVERYONE is welcome!

 

SATURDAY, October 20, 2018

Personal Protection Program
Learn to evaluate and survive threatening situations; YWCA gymnasium Ages 12-17: 9am-12:30pm; Ages 18+: 9am-4pm;
$50/person or 2 for $80; register in person at YWCA
