A Cornerstone of Our Work

Our organization offers services and programs to support women and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence, housing and homelessness, poverty, health and wellness, and youth empowerment.

YWCA Lethbridge & District - Community Education and Awareness
As an organization dedicated to advocacy on municipal, provincial, and federal levels, the YWCA Lethbridge acknowledges that community education is a fundamental part of that advocacy.
It’s essential to the work we do here at the YWCA Lethbridge to use our voice and our platform to support that community education by offering informative space to encourage all residents of Lethbridge, and beyond, to learn everything they about the topics they may be concerned about, the challenges they may be experiencing in their neighbourhoods, and how we all can drive positive changes in Lethbridge.
Changes to the status quo do not come quickly or easily, and often require community members to advocate and support the policies and procedures that usher in new growth and development.
Awareness Events Calendar

Teen Dating Violence Prevention Month:
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is an annual awareness campaign held every February that aims to educate young people about healthy and unhealthy dating relationships and ultimately, prevent dating violence.
YWCA Lethbridge offers educational conversation sessions to local high schools, youth groups, and post-secondary students to encourage them to recognize signs of unhealthy relationships, and what to do if they see those signs.
In-person support and community resources are available through the YWCA, and online.

YWCA Week Without Violence:
YWCA Week Without Violence is an annual worldwide campaign to stop violence in all its forms. Each year, during the third week of October, YWCAs across Canada and the globe host activities that focus on raising awareness about gender-based violence, promoting attitude change and enabling individuals & organizations to begin taking positive actions to ending violence in our community.

Take Back the Night:
YWCA Take Back the Night is a community protest & direct action against sexual violence, held annually on the third Friday of October during YWCA Week Without Violence.
