Neighbourhood Play Program
The countdown is on to our 2026 season of the Neighbourhood Play Program, and we are so excited to welcome back some familiar faces, and meet new ones!
Care-free play for your child
Neighbourhood Play is a drop-in program offering supervision so your child can safely develop their social, physical, and cognitive skills through play.
Ages
- Available to children aged 6 to 12
- Younger children are welcome if a parent/guardian is present and supervising them at all times
What to bring
- Water bottle
- Sunscreen
- Lunch
- Snacks
- Hat
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Running shoes
Washrooms and water stations are available.
No fee
No preregistration

2026 Program locations
Daily schedule
Monday – Thursday
- 8:30 AM – Drop off for all locations
- 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM – All-day session
- 3:30 PM – Pick up for all locations
Friday
- 8:30 AM -Drop off for all locations
- 12:30 PM – Pick up for all locations
** NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAY PROGRAM DOES NOT RUN ON STATUTORY HOLIDAYS **
- The Neighbourhood Play Program does provide supervision over the lunch hour, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.
- There is no extended care offered outside of the program hours.
- Due to the drop-in nature of the program, we recommend that an adult be home during the operation of the program in case your child decides/needs to leave early.
Updates
Adverse Weather
In the case of excessive heat and/or inclement weather, the program may be required to operate only for the mornings or cancelled for the day.

Special Events
July 17 – Paper Trail Recycling Tour
Discover what happens after recycling leaves your blue bin! Participants will tour a local recycling facility and learn how recycling helps protect our environment. Time: 9:30 a.m. • Group Size: 20 (including staff)
July 21 – Kids in the Kitchen – Family Centre
Learn to prepare a simple, healthy meal while developing basic cooking skills, kitchen safety, teamwork, and confidence in the kitchen. Time: 10:00 a.m. • Group Size: 15
August 5 – New West Theatre – Millennium
Enjoy a complimentary evening performance of Millennium. Time: 7:30 p.m. • 15 tickets available.
August 7 – New West Theatre Backstage Tour
Discover what happens behind the scenes of a live theatre production by exploring costumes, props, sets, and backstage spaces. Time: 11:30 a.m. • Group Size: 20
August 14 – Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services Tour
Tour a working fire station, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, and learn about fire safety and the important role firefighters play in our community. Station 5 (West Lethbridge)Time: 9:30 a.m. One adult required for every 5 children. Limited parking is available. • Group Size: 25
August 14 – Scientists in School
An opportunity to build something innovative and discover the exciting world of science and engineering! Location: YWCA Gymnasium Time: 1:00 p.m-2:00 pm • Group Size: 15

Family Opportunity 1
Evergreen Golf Centre Mini Golf
Enjoy a round of 18-hole mini golf at preferred Neighbourhood Play Program pricing. Available Monday or Tuesday mornings (9:00 a.m.) between July 2 and August 14. If interested, please contact the NPP team by email so we can coordinate your visit with Evergreen Golf Centre.
Family Opportunity 2
Japanese Gardens Family Passes
Borrow a complimentary family pass (4–8 people) to explore the Japanese Gardens anytime between July 2 and August 31. Passes provide general admission; some special events may require an additional fee. Families are encouraged to check the Gardens’ event calendar before visiting. Passes must be returned to YWCA staff after use.
